Collingwood, ON CANADA – February 8, 2017 - Pro motorcycle road racer Ben Young is excited to confirm that he will return to the MOPAR Canadian Superbike Championship (CSBK) with BMW Motorrad Canada with the goal of piloting his #86 S1000RR Superbike to the 2017 Pro Superbike Championship title.

Young wrapped up his 2016 Pro MOPAR Canadian Superbike rookie season third in the Championship standings and was also honoured to receive the Brooklin Cycle Racing Pro Rookie of the Year Award. The first year MOPAR CSBK racer also wound up 23rd overall, world-wide, in the 2017 BMW Motorrad Race Trophy rankings against 104 international competitors in his first year aboard the S1000RR Superbike.

Not only was 2016 Young’s first venture into the premier Pro Superbike class it was also his first full-season racing on Canadian soil since he won the PRO GP125 R.A.C.E Championship in 2010.

In addition to being excited to return to race in Canada’s premier national pro motorcycle road racing series, 2017 will mark Young’s first back-to back season with the same manufacturer since his 2012 and 2013 AMA Daytona Sportbike seasons.

His international experience, including; the Scottish Nationals, U.S. Red Bull Rookies Cup try-outs, Grand Prix wildcard, AMA Daytona SportBike, British Superstock in the UK and MotoAmerica Supersport has allowed the resident of Collingwood, Ontario to develop a knack for learning and adapting to new tracks quickly.

“BMW Motorrad Canada is looking forward to another successful season with Ben and his team and hopefully we’ll get to see him another step closer to the top of the podium in 2017.” said Chris Duff, Manager, BMW Motorrad Marketing.

The MOPAR CSBK Canadian National motorcycle road racing series will include five race weekends in 2017. Four will be held at established venues; Shannonville Motorsport Park, Autodrome St-Eustache, Atlantic Motorsport Park and Canadian Tire Motorsport Park. The fifth race weekend will be the first time the national tour will visit Grand Bend Motorplex located in a resort area on Lake Huron, Ontario.

Young has always set his sights steadfastly on the future and he’s been a consistent force poised to take on new challenges and emerge stronger for them.

“It will be great to team up again with Willie Vass and chief mechanic Scott Cartier this season. Closer to the end of the 2016 season we really began to explore the full potential of the BMW S1000RR and we now have a solid base to work from heading into the coming season.” said Young.

Another bonus for the proud Canuck with the Scottish lilt returning for a second CSBK season is that he’ll also get to enjoy Canada’s 150th Anniversary celebrations amongst friends, fellow racers, fans and family.

Young will be on hand with fellow stars of the CSBK national tour to sign autographs on Saturday February 18th at the Motorcycle Show-Toronto presented by Dalton Timmis Insurance. Visit www.CSBK.ca and www.torontomotorcycleshow.com for the most up-to-date information on the show.

The 23 year old pilot of the #86 BMW S1000RR is also a proud "Laps for Muscular Dystrophy" (Laps4MD) rider who’s pledged to donate $1 for every lap he lead this season. These donations go to Muscular Dystrophy Canada to help make a difference in the lives of over 50,000 Canadians affected by a neuromuscular disorder.
